Conquer the LSAT: 4 Techniques to Identify & Address Your Weaknesses

Updated: Apr 8

Are you struggling with the Law School Admissions Test (LSAT)? The LSAT is a challenging exam that requires critical thinking and analytical skills. At Ginsburg Advanced, our tutors are dedicated to helping students succeed on the LSAT by developing their critical and analytical thinking skills and teaching them to identify and address pattern weaknesses.

As a certified teacher and education attorney, I have developed four techniques to help students evaluate their weaknesses and improve their performance on the LSAT. Consider these techniques before relying on explanations of answers that fail to take your behavior and strategy into account:

Technique #1: Analyzing Mistakes

When a student completes a practice test or timed section, we look for pairs or clusters of mistakes to identify broader reasons that might be affecting their accuracy. Anxiety and second-guessing are common issues that can impact a student's performance. By encouraging students to double-check their response instead of fixating on a question, we can help them ease their anxiety and improve their accuracy.

Technique #2: Identifying Patterns in Wrong Answers

We evaluate a student's wrong answers to identify if they are consistently making the same type of mistake. By assessing if there's a similar glitch or behavioral mistake that affected how the student answered those questions, we can provide targeted assistance to address those weaknesses.

Technique #3: Making Real-life Connections

I incorporate real-life examples about attorneys and judges to help students understand the LSAT. By using relatable examples, such as comparing a student to an appellate judge when checking their work, we can help students grasp important concepts and strategies for the exam.

Technique #4: Focusing on Behavioral Modifications

Instead of vague advice like "read slower or more carefully," we focus on finding tangible behavioral modifications that are possible for students to accomplish. For example, we encourage students to focus on identifying modifiers that signify certainty, rate, frequency, quantity, likelihood, and rate, which can help improve their comprehension and accuracy on the exam.

By employing these techniques, our tutors at Ginsburg Advance can help students identify and address their weaknesses on the LSAT, ultimately leading to improved performance on the exam.

Whether you're struggling with anxiety, second-guessing, or specific types of mistakes, we are here to provide personalized support and guidance to help you succeed. With our proven strategies and individualized approach, you can conquer the LSAT and achieve your academic and career goals.
