CASE STUDIES

LILLIE H.

Ginsburg Advanced Tutoring changed my life!
I'm a (graduated) masters student who has had issues with test anxiety my entire life. It was showing in my grades and it was holding me back from getting a teaching certification because I had to pass the Praxis II test first, and had failed it five times when I finally reached out to Shana.

Over the course of four months, she met with me once a week and then, later, twice a week to go over the best ways to study, outline, testing strategies, and how to deal with test anxiety. She even helped with the best strategies for essay writing as well as the best ways to use my time economically (my phone calender has never been this colorful).

The first change I saw was in my school grades. If all my classes were based on essays and reading, I'd be an A student, for sure. But that just isn't the case. And so, with all the tests bringing my grades down, I was looking at a lot of C's and B's. But tutoring with Shana changed that! One of my classes that was completely test based went up from a D to a B! I used her methods on testing, essays, and scheduling, and the improvement in my grades was dramatic. But I also heeded her scheduling advice and made sure that through all the studying, I still had time for myself. My classmates were running themselves into the ground, and I was getting great grades and still living my life. I ended the year with four A's and two B's and my sanity!
And after FIVE FAILURES with the Praxis II, I finally passed! She told me when I'd be ready, talked me through mindfulness methods to use on test day, sent me off, and I came back a champion!

These are skills I'll take away with me through life. I'm not the same person since I signed up, and I'm happier for it. Shana isn't a tutor who'll help you with one test or one class. She'll give you the means and tools to break through test anxiety for good and live a happier, nerdier, and more academically successful future!

The best part? As a teacher, I finally get to pass on effective study methods to MY students. I can let students with test anxiety know that I was in the same place not so long ago, and that there are tools they can use to succeed. I can't wait to make "how to study" a part of my curriculum!

After flunking the LSAT twice, I was at my lowest and was seriously considering dropping the idea of going to law school but I came across Shana's social media page and read about how she specializes in tutoring kids with test anxiety, so I thought why not give it one more try.

I scheduled a consult, after arguing with myself if I should or should not, and I couldn't be more grateful that I went ahead with it. That one phone call for a few minutes with Shana changed everything. She briefly gave me an overview of how she works and what approach she takes - especially for students who experience high test anxiety (like myself) - and so I went ahead and started seeking her tutoring services.

Getting Shana's help was the best decision I have made towards pursuing my goal to obtain a law degree. Studying for the LSAT was never fun for me but Shana somehow manages to teach it where you actually have fun learning and you want to keep going until you understand a concept. Many times she was far more determined than I was to reach my goal score and I couldn't be more thankful to her  for being on my back at times to get things done.

Her approach is unique and very effective. My score increased by 10 points! It would have been a bit more if I didn't have that horrible online proctor experience. Point is - she's great! And beyond words understanding. Tutoring didn't feel like tutoring with her. She cares about your success as much as you do.

After a long struggle with the LSAT and with Shana's help, I landed an acceptance letter from one of my target schools and start classes this Fall. I couldn't have done it without Shana's help. Anyone who needs help preparing for the LSAT, definitely reach out to her without hesitating!

I want to give a big thank-you to Shana for working with me and helping me reach my goals. She has worked with me over the past year to successfully pass two Praxis exams. Last summer, I was on a deadline to pass the Praxis Core Writing Exam. Shana worked with me to really understand the material, as well as improve my essay writing. I was finally able to pass, and stay on schedule with my education program. In addition, Shana helped me prepare for the Social Studies Content and Interpretation Exam, which was the last Praxis I needed to pass for certification. Shana was patient with me, and helped me create a study guide for all the material. This was a big help because all the information I needed to know was condensed, which made it easier to understand. Shana worked endlessly with me to cover all content areas of the exam, to ensure that the next time I took it would be my last. The best score I was able to achieve prior to working with Shana was a “150.” After working with her for months, I finally passed the exam with a “164.”

All the practices and reviews were totally worth the 14-point increase. I was stuck in a hard place, trying to pass these two exams which are needed for certification. Shana’s approach and presentation of the material in different ways was instrumental to my success. She was amazing throughout the whole process. I highly recommend her if you need any help passing a difficult exam. Shana will be with you until the end and, because of her, I was able to achieve my dream of becoming a teacher. Thanks again, Shana. You are amazing! You rock!

The first time I took the LSAT I self studied and the second time I worked with a large testing company completing an online course. Each time I scored in the low percentile with a 138 and no change in my score. I was pretty much ready to give up on my goal of being an attorney because my anxiety about taking the test again was so overwhelming. I had zero confidence in my ability to pass this test. One day while searching the LSAT on Instagram’s explore page, I found Shana’s page and arranged a consultation. Shana was SO helpful and flexible. We started right away. I worked with Shana for a year, one hour a week. Shana provided me with individualized strategies, meditation methods and some kick ass motivation. I was balancing starting a new job with heavy responsibilities and Shana kept me on track with a schedule and reassurance that I was doing awesome. I could not imagine taking this test again and not doing well, Shana eased my nerves so much and encouraged me!

This February I took the LSAT again and got my goal score increasing 12 points!!! If I worked with Shana longer I am sure I could’ve crushed the test even more. After the LSAT, she guided me through the LSAT process, she also reviewed all my personal statements and applications. Shana is truly AMAZING at what she does and I owe this success all to her. I cannot thank her enough for helping me reach my goal of becoming an attorney! If you need a tutor, she is the ONE that will get you to where you want to be! the work you provided for them.
